Pictou Harbour Golf Club
Pictou Harbour Golf Club is a picturesque nine-hole course located on a southern exposed bluff of land on Pictou Harbour. Incorporated in 1921, the course offers well established greens and fairways with spectacular views of the Harbour, the Pictou Yacht Club and surrounding countryside.
Ocean breezes, uneven lies and small greens challenge all levels of golfer. New ownership and new design features increase playing pleasure. Located in the town of Pictou, only 15 minutes from Stonehame.
Abercrombie Golf Club
Originally built as a nine-hole course on the Cook farm in 1919, Abercrombie has progressed over its eighty-five years to become one of Nova Scotia's best tests of golf. In the late sixties the course was expanded to an eighteen-hole layout, incorporating many of the original, more open holes with the newer holes, nestled among Pictou County's beautiful wooded landscape.
The Abercrombie Golf Course has played host to many prestigious tournaments in the recent past, on both the provincial and national scenes. The 1989 Canadian Junior Girls Championship and the 1997 Canadian Seniors Championship were held at Abercrombie. The club has also hosted several charity golf tournaments, most notably the Peter Gzowski Literacy Tournament and the annual Scott Weeks Celebrity Tournament, which attracts many professional sport celebrities who participate for a worthy cause.
Glen Lovat Golf Club
Located just 5 minutes from downtown New Glasgow, (25 minutes from Stonehame) this 18-hole golf course combines both scenery and challenge. The layout, overlooking Merigomish Harbour and the Northumberland Strait , presents a uniquely different golf experience for local and visiting golfers . On this course strategy is an asset that will help the thinking golfer avoid trouble. The fairways are narrow with plenty of ponds, but you will be rewarded for a well-struck golf shot. Every hole plays differently.
The course is very scenic with an assortment of wildlife (deer, eagles, beavers... ). The course (over 200 acres) lays on beautiful hills on top of Frasers Mountain. Pictou County is strong in Scottish Gaelic tradition where Glen Lovat derives its name. A camera is a must for first time visitors, as you will want pictures of our wonderful landscape.
Linacy Greens Golf Club
Linacy Greens is creatively designed to take advantage of the natural beauty of Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Rolling hills, mature woodland, meandering streams, and beaver ponds create a golfer's paradise. Challenging to every level of golf expertise. Linacy Greens has beautiful bent grass greens, Kentucky bluegrass fairways, and full irrigation system.
The course is the undertaking of partners Romeo Roy and John Leung who have designed and constructed a high quality course with a mix of open holes on original farmland, and tree-lined holes cut from mature forest. The first 9 holes opened in 2002, with the completed 18 hole course opening in 2004.
